Women in Economic History – „Statut“
Verabschiedet beim Women’s Lunch in Leipzig, 30.3.2023
Zielsetzung und Organisation: Wissenschaftliche Forschung lebt von Diversität, auch und ganz besonders die Wirtschafts- und Sozialgeschichte. Der Arbeitskreis „Women in Economic History“ zielt ab auf die Präsentation von Forschungsinteressen, -aktivitäten und -ergebnissen von Sozial- und Wirtschaftshistorikerinnen und ermöglicht eine gezielte Vernetzung. Ziel des Arbeitskreises ist es auch, Nachwuchswissenschaftlerinnen in ihrem Werdegang zu unterstützen. Er steht Interessentinnen aller Karrierestufen offen. Er ist lose an die GSWG angelehnt und kooperiert zur Nutzung entsprechender Synergieeffekte mit ihr, ist jedoch organisatorisch eigenständig.
Beitritt und Mitgliedschaft: Der Beitritt zum Arbeitskreis erfolgt auf formlosen Antrag per Email an women.in.econ.hist@gmail.com. Die Mitglieder werden, wenn nicht anders gewünscht, auf der Website des Arbeitskreises in der Rubrik „Mitglieder“ aufgeführt. Außerdem geben sie Felder der besonderen Expertise an, unter denen sie in der Rubrik „Themen/Fields“ gelistet werden und sind aufgefordert, ihre Forschungsaktivitäten und Publikationen dem Netzwerk zu melden. Die E-Mail-Adressen aller Mitglieder werden in einen Mailverteiler aufgenommen. Mit dem Beitrittsgesuch erklären die Antragsstellerinnen sich automatisch mit der Speicherung ihrer personenbezogenen Daten nach Bundesdatenschutzgesetz einverstanden.
Der Arbeitskreis wird von einem zwei- bis dreiköpfigen Sprecherinnenteam geleitet. Die Sprecherinnen werden gewählt auf dem alle zwei Jahre stattfindenden Women’s Lunch auf der Jahrestagung der GSWG/Wirtschaftshistorischer Ausschuss des Vereins für Socialpolitik (Kongress für Wirtschafts- und Sozialgeschichte). Eine Wiederwahl ist einmal möglich (max. vier Jahre). Zur Wahl zugelassen sind Mitglieder der WIEH aller Karrierestufen. Die Sprecherinnen organisieren federführend die Aktivitäten des Arbeitskreises. Sie ernennen eine Datenschutzbeauftragte.
Aktivitäten:
Der Arbeitskreis trifft sich mindestens zwei Mal pro Semester online. Er trifft sich darüber hinaus alle zwei Jahre bei der oben genannten Jahrestagung zum Women’s Lunch. Auf der Website macht er auf neuere Publikationen sowie Forschungsaktivitäten seiner Mitglieder aufmerksam, ebenso auf Stellenausschreibungen, Veranstaltungen etc. Außerdem pflegt er eine Mailinglist, über die die Mitglieder informiert werden können, und unterhält einen Twitter-Account.
Die Mitglieder unterstützen sich gegenseitig bei der Planung wissenschaftlicher Aktivitäten, z.B. Konferenzen oder Publikationen, bei der Karriereplanung oder bei konkreten Problemen im Wissenschaftssystem. Die weiter fortgeschrittenen Mitglieder sind für Wissenschaftlerinnen in früheren Karrierestadien für Beratung, Feedback und Unterstützung ansprechbar.
Weitere Aktivitäten (z.B. Workshops) können nach Bedarf und Nachfrage organisiert werden. Der Arbeitskreis lebt vom Engagement seiner Mitglieder.

Objectives and organization: Scientific research thrives on diversity, especially economic and social history. The working group "Women in Economic History" aims to present research interests, activities and results of female social and economic historians and enables targeted networking. Goal of the working group is to support the careers of young female scholars. It is open to interested women at all career stages. It is loosely affiliated with the GSWG and cooperates with it to take advantage of synergies, but is organizationally independent.
Joining and membership: Joining the working group is possible by an informal application to women.in.econ.hist@gmail.com. Unless otherwise requested, members are listed in the "Members" section of the working group's website. Prospective members are asked to indicate fields of special expertise under which they will be listed in the section "Topics/Fields". Members are encouraged to report their research activities and publications to the network. The email addresses of all members are included in a mailing list. By applying for membership, applicants automatically agree to the storage of their personal data in accordance with the Federal Data Protection Act.
The working group is led by a team of two to three spokeswomen. The spokespersons are elected at the Women's Lunch at the biennial meeting of the GSWG/Economic History Committee of the Verein für Socialpolitik (Congress for Economic and Social History). Re-election is possible once (for a maximum of four years). WIEH members of all career stages are eligible for election. The spokeswomen take the lead in organizing the activities of the working group. They appoint a data protection officer.
Activities:
The working group meets online at least twice per semester. It also meets every other year at the biennial Women's Lunch mentioned above. On the website, it highlights recent publications and research activities of its members, as well as job postings, events, etc. It also maintains a mailing list through which members can be notified and maintains a Twitter account.
Members support each other in planning scientific activities, e.g. conferences or publications, by providing career advice or answering specific questions related to academia. The more senior members of the network are available to women scientists at earlier stages of their careers for advice, feedback, and support.
Further activities (e.g. workshops) can be organized following additional demand. The working group thrives on the commitment of its members.
